This level of supervision takes place in the family’s natural environment and provides additional safeguards beyond those typically found in community-based assessments.

With our family practitioners providing constant observation and parenting support, we can ensure a high level of protection and risk management. Our team keep a detailed daily record log of their observations, including support and teachings provided, any interventions and safeguarding concerns identified each day.

By allowing the child to remain in the care of their parent, it also minimises the stress associated with separation. This, in turn, promotes emotional well-being and engagement with key professionals and services.

Living at home also reduces distractions and allows parents to focus solely on meeting the care needs of their child and developing their skills to identify, respond and meet the needs of their child.

Our 24-7 in-home supervision provides a seamless approach that enables all assessment work to be done within the family’s natural environment.

This approach can also be supported by one of our qualified independent social workers (ISW) They can assesses the family based on first-hand evidence provided by the family practitioners’ direct and full-time supervision. Overall, providing the best quality evidence.

Family First will continue to offer support to the families we work even after our work has been completed. The 24 hours crisis helpline will be available to parents should any needs arise. We will offer them emotional and practical advice and support for as long as is required once they have accessed our services.
